Our Services

Easter Seals is dedicated to providing services for infants, children and adults with disabilities and providing support for the families who love and care for them. Children with and without disabilities will find the highest quality services designed to meet their individual needs when they come to Easter Seals. Teams of therapists, teachers and other health professionals help each person overcome obstacles to independence and reach his or her personal goals. Easter Seals also includes families as active members of any therapy program, and offers the support network families need.


Assistive Technology
Assistive Technology is any item, piece of equipment, product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. Expert speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists with specialized training assist individuals in achieving their personal best through assistive technology to communicate, write, play, or control their environment. Intervention and evaluation/consultation services are available using a variety of assistive technology systems.

Audiology
Audiologists at Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region help solve hearing problems with a supportive rehabilitative approach, one that works to accommodate families’ unique needs. Easter Seals has very experienced and qualified adult and pediatric audiologists who serve all family members from newborns needing follow-up hearing testing, to older adults who have gradually lost their hearing and are now in need of hearing aids. Audiology services are provided at both the Villa Park and Elgin locations of Easter Seals.

Autism Services
Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region provide several therapy programs and services to children with autism spectrum disorder. These include individual therapy sessions, nutrition consult, therapeutic listening sessions, The Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters (P.L.A.Y.) Project, group therapy, Playtime Talk program, Practice and Learn Social Skills (PALSS) Club, Alert Group, and Feelings, Friendships, and Fun program. LaSalle and Bureau Counties Autism Services

Camping and Recreation
Easter Seals proudly offers great camping experiences for both children and adults with disabilities at the Timberpointe Outdoor Center. Located on beautiful Lake Bloomington in Hudson, Illinois, children and adults can have fun singing, swimming, arts and crafts, archery, canoe rides and making s’mores in a safe, barrier-free environment for everyone.

Casting Clinic
Casting Clinic is a service provided to enrolled clients of the Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region Elgin center. Lower extremity serial casting involves applying a series of casts to the foot and lower leg to stretch tight heel cords and improve ankle range of motion. The cast is applied and removed on a weekly basis until the desired range of motion is achieved.

Continuing Education
Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region is a teaching clinic and provides cutting edge continuing education courses to speech and language pathologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, educators, other professionals, and parents. Courses are held at the Villa Park location of Easter Seals.

Developmental Screenings
Easter Seals offers a comprehensive Early Intervention program serving children age’s birth to three years old.  Part of this program includes screening children to make sure they are developing appropriately.  Easter Seals is proud to offer free screenings to children age six weeks to thirty-four months.

Feeding Clinic
A pediatric gastroenterologist from Ronald McDonald Children's Hospital of Loyola University Medical Center and dedicated therapists and staff at Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region provide a complete feeding evaluation to address nutrition, feeding and gastroenterology concerns. Available at the Villa Park location of Easter Seals, parents come to one location to receive a thorough interdisciplinary evaluation and plan.

Illinois Valley Autism Resource Center
The Autism Resource Center, provides access to information, specialized training, home tool kits, and local interventions to children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families. The center also provides support to educators, medical practitioners, therapists, clergy and other professionals engaged in the field of Autism.

LaSalle and Bureau Co. Developmental Therapy
Developmental Therapy, provided at Easter Seals LaSalle and Bureau Co., encourages growth in all areas of development.  Cognitive, social, adaptive, motor and language skills are addressed by the therapist.  Each therapist is knowledgeable in child development and disabilities.  Parent education is a vital part of this therapy.  Parents/guardians are given ideas and shown activities to work on with the child outside of therapy.

LaSalle and Bureau Co. Kids Can Inclusive Daycare and Preschool (Ottawa, IL)
Easter Seals LaSalle and Bureau County Kids Can Child Development Center's mission is to provide a loving environment for all children that are conducive to good development, exploration, imagination and cooperation. Kids Can Daycare and Preschool offers child care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Young children are welcomed to a unique environment where children of all abilities learn together.

LaSalle and Bureau Co. Lekotek
Lekotek, provided by Easter Seals LaSalle and Bureau County, uses interactive play experiences and learning that results in the promotion of including children with special needs into family and community life. Lekotek helps the family to see how their child is like all children and relate to the child, as well as the disability. Lekotek works with families as a unit, rather than treat the child in isolation. A complete line of toys and adaptive devices are available to parents through the Lekotek loan program.

LaSalle and Bureau Co. Toddler Class
Easter Seals LaSalle and Bureau County Toddler class provides an environment that promotes socialization, development and positive interaction.  Children attend class twice a week, for two hours at a time.  Each child engages in activities such as free play, snack time, group time, and art projects.  Each class is structured to promote an awareness of routine.  Toddler class is a year-round program offered in Peru, Princeton and Ottawa.

Lily Garden Child Development Center (Villa Park, IL)
Lily Garden Child Development Center’s mission is to foster independence, compassion, knowledge and respect for all children. Committed to providing an environment where all families are valued, supported and encouraged, the Lily Garden CDC provides childcare services for children 6 weeks through 5 years of age.

Neonatal Developmental Follow-Up Clinic
The Neonatal Developmental Follow-Up Clinic is for babies born too soon or with medical complications at Good Samaritan Hospital, Edwards Hospital, and Hinsdale Hospital and are treated by the DuPage Neonatalogy Associates. It provides consistent neonatal follow-up and early intervention at the earliest opportunity to reduce the risk of future challenges.

Nutrition Therapy
With registered dietitians at Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region, the goals of Medical Nutrition Therapy is to; provide a thorough consultation and evaluation with the child and family to determine nutritional needs specific to the child’s condition, to recommend nutrition interventions that will benefit the child and are within the abilities of both the child and family, to promote optimal growth and development of the child, to assist with referrals to other appropriate professionals and to provide follow-up as needed to assure proper intake, monitor growth and assess progress.

Occupational Therapy
A child’s occupation is learning, playing and completing activities of daily living. An Easter Seals occupational therapist can evaluate the components of motor skills, play activities and sensory processing which are vital to success with these life skills. The therapist then compares the child’s abilities with what is developmentally appropriate for his/her age group and provide intervention and adaptations necessary to develop age-appropriate skills.

Outreach Programs
To bridge the gap between center-based therapy and the community, Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region has developed an outreach program bringing experienced, highly trained pediatric therapists into the environments where children live and play. These programs are available throughout DuPage County and offered at affordable rates so that more families can participate. Most are 8 to 12 week programs at various times throughout the year.

Orthopedics Clinic
Orthopedics Clinic is a service provided to enrolled clients of Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region. It is structured as a team consultation with input from an orthopedic surgeon, orthotist, the client’s physical therapist, and the client’s family. Issues addressed usually center on specific issues of service delivery, orthotics, impending surgery and second opinions.

Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy services focus on enhancing or restoring a child’s mobility and functional competency. Easter Seals licensed physical therapists utilize therapeutic exercises, therapy regiments, assistive devices and special techniques to encourage independence at home, school and in the community. They help evaluate your child’s muscle tone and movement patterns which support the development of motoring skills such as sitting, crawling, walking, running and jumping.

Playtime Talk™
Playtime Talk is an innovative therapy program developed at Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Playtime Talk specifically addresses situations that are a part of the child’s daily life and takes advantage of their visually based learning styles. Participants ages 4-7 years old are placed in a group therapy setting that meets three times a week for eight weeks. Each weekly session focuses on a unique play and language script for the children to learn in everyday environments.

Positioning and Mobility Clinic
The Positioning and Mobility Clinic provides a team approach to the evaluation, fittings, and follow-up for the provision of: wheelchairs (manual and power), seating systems, standers, car seats, adapted chairs, and bath equipment. The clinician (occupational therapist or physical therapist) involved works together with loyal vendors and the family/individual to collaborate on choosing equipment that is designed to meet the needs of the individual and their lifestyle.

Respiratory Clinic
In the collaboration with the world renowned Mary Massery, Physical Therapist, Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region is able to offer a comprehensive Respiratory Clinic to help children and families address respiratory issues with their children. Space is very limited for this clinic so please be sure to contact us as soon as possible for an appointment.

Social Services
Through Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region’s comprehensive family support program, services are offered individually and through support groups to all center families. A Parent Liaison and Social Worker are always available to assist and support center families and children. In addition to counseling and providing resources the Social Services Department coordinates support groups, sibling groups, and a variety of other activities for Easter Seals children and their families.

Speech and Language Therapy
Speech and Language Therapy services focus on enhancing communication and feeding skills to the best of every child’s ability.  Speech and language therapists work on a variety of skills to assist each child in becoming a successful and confident communicator. Therapists are trained and experienced with interventions that focus on sound development, memory and organization, language, articulation, social communication, processing, voice, fluency, functional communication, in addition to oral motor skills to enhance swallowing, chewing, and articulation skills.

Splinting Clinic
Splint Clinic is a service provided to enrolled clients of Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region. The clinic provides evaluation and fabrication of custom-made devices, usually plastic or neoprene, to support joints or improve movement. If recommended, a series of low-temperature plastic splints or casts may be fabricated to provide stretch to soft tissue tightness at the joints. The splint clinic also provides custom adaptations to adaptive equipment to allow improved grasp or size accommodation.

SuitAbility
Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region is proud to offer an innovative intensive therapy program that has achieved significant results here with the clients who have participated in it.  The SuitABILITY Program provides intense physical and occupational therapy services as well as nutrition therapy consultation.  The program has a focus on strengthening, improved range of motion, and increased independence with functional skills. Children who participate must be over three years of age, meet the inclusion criteria, and may have diagnoses such as cerebral palsy, developmental delays, traumatic brain injury, post-stroke, ataxia, athetosis, hypertonia and hypotonia.

Vision Clinic
Vision Clinic is a screening provided by an Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region developmental optometrist and occupational therapist. The goal of Vision Clinic is to identify potential visual problems that may be impacting a child’s ability to function, and make recommendations for activities to complete at home or in the child’s occupational therapy session that will help improve visual skills.
