History

Volunteers founded Easterseals DuPage in 1942 as the Illinois Association for the Crippled, DuPage Chapter, where a handful of therapists provided in-home services to 15 families. Early services consisted of providing braces, wheelchairs, and equipment for special classes in the public schools.

Our History
In 1952, the Chapter became an official Easterseals agency, Easterseals DuPage, and opened an outpatient treatment center in Villa Park. In 1984, the organization moved to its current location at 830 South Addison Avenue, where it remains headquartered today.

Growth and Expansion
To meet the growing needs of children and families, the Lee A. Daniels Center opened in Naperville in 2001. In 2005, Easterseals expanded services to Elgin by assuming responsibility for therapy services at the Jayne Shover Center and became Easterseals DuPage and Fox Valley.

Today
Easterseals DuPage and Fox Valley now employs nearly 120 staff members, including more than 90 highly trained pediatric therapists. Our team brings extensive medical expertise and experience in pediatric rehabilitation, supported by ongoing continuing education to stay current with the latest treatment approaches.

We provide individualized care for children from infancy through young adulthood, supporting a wide range of developmental and physical needs. Whether a child requires comprehensive services or support in a specific area, we are a trusted resource for families.

Villa Park Facility
In 1999, following a successful capital campaign, Easterseals DuPage opened a new, state of the art 31,000 square foot facility in Villa Park. Built on the original site, the new center replaced a former school building and was made possible through the generosity of many donors.

A portion of the facility, the Arthur and Mary Rubloff space, was developed through a partnership with United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Chicago. In 2019, Easterseals DuPage and Fox Valley completed Growing Home campaign, purchasing remaining space, expanding services, and eliminating lease expenses.

    Addy & Lily

    At our Gala three years ago, we introduced Addy and Lily – twin sisters, who were born conjoined at the chest and spent nearly 11 months in the hospital before undergoing the surgery that would successfully separate them.

    We also honored a team of Easterseals therapists who supported Addy and Lily’s earliest achievements and are still a part of their milestones.

    Raizel's journey began at Easterseals at just five months old. After her diagnosis, she began multidisciplinary therapy services. Almost 19 years later, she has achieved huge milestones!
